Your career begins in 80's decade and reaches your firsts exits in 1990 with the band Candy Butchers. In 1996, Adam Schlesinger and you compose and record the song "That thing You Do". How do you get to this song? Is it composed for the movie?
Yes. Adam wrote it for the movie and approached me to help do a demo which led to me singing and playing on the soundtrack and ulitmately producing.

What did Tom Hanks tell you whe he listened to the song That thing You Do"?
"You saved my movie! thank you! and why were you 2 hours late for our meeting?".

Have you expected that "That thing You Do" would have so many exit all over the world? How has your career changed since you put your voice to "The wonders"?
Didn't expect it to cast such a wide net. and in fact, it hasn't changed my career at all. I kept it pretty secret that it was me.

Since then, you haven't stopped composing and recording LPs and EPs by your own and with Candy Butchers. In 2005, you decided to launch your own independent label. Were you tired of working for others?
Major labels are for young people that are willing to put their ideas on hold every 3 years between records. I've got too many ideas to be put on hold so... here I am.

Let's talk about Winston, your new band. How did you come to the idea to create this new band?
On the set of a new movie I'm working on called "Get Him To The Greek". I wrote a bunch of songs for the movie and played on it. I'm also IN the movie for a bit at the end. Anyway, the musicians that played on the soundtrack really loved my work so we started jamming. One thing led to another.

Why that name: Winston?
John Lennon's middle name and the brand of cigarette that killed my father.

How is going the record of Winston first LP?
It's amazing. Really stripped down. Trio pop. Like Nirvana meets Crowded House!

When is it going to be done "El mundo de perfecto"?
I think it will be released sometime this fall if all goes well.

Are you going to be on tour to introduce your LP?
Not sure.

What kind of songs will your fans find in your debut LP?
Gloriously sad and uplifting songs about being lost in the maze of middle age, hungry for life as the body decays.

Is there still something of "That thing You Do" in your present songs?
People have said my voice sounds a lot like it did on that song but... I dunno.

By the way, Why have you titled in spanish your LP, "El mundo de perfecto"?
I live in a Latino neighborhood and my daughter Izzy who is 5 came up with that title. Actually, the LP will be called "Electro De Perfecto" and the focus track on the LP is "El Mundo De Perfecto".
